CHAPTER 2DELIGHT

When I think of how it feels to look at art that resonates, as well as to make art that feels right, the word “delight” comes to mind. When something delights you visually, it brings a smile to your face or it makes you feel good. Does it feel amusing, charming, or remind you of something personal? Delight has a joyful component to it and it’s a wonderful feeling to meditate on, spend time in, and make art from. You can’t edit what you feel is delightful, it just is. Perhaps it’s a color combination, the quality of a line or brushstroke, or the way shapes are juxtaposed on a page. It’s a personal response, and it just feels good to play with the idea and the sense of delight.
