What is drawing?

Drawing is a frame of the imagination, encouraging the gaze to move beyond the frame of the visible to the invisible, the probable to the improbable. Architects and urban designers use drawings to constitute an important part of the process of the thinking about the fabric of the city, the mental construction of the architecture as it evolves and develops. These images can be engaged with as a physical act of drawing, establishing a sheet of paper as a surface and making marks which have a purpose, a scale, a length, and weight.
