Conclusions

Successful controllers contribute significantly to firm performance. This is a strong argument in favor of inquiring into the drivers of successful controllership. We have accordingly presented three such drivers in this book: activities, people, and interaction, and have also discussed several major trends that currently characterize successful controllership. Having this knowledge at their fingertips enables controllers to compete more successfully for limited resources within their organizations, to supply services that provide greater value to managers, and to establish a positive image for their profession.
