The Aggregator module enables you to bring outside content into your Web site. The module collects, or aggregates, news feeds from the sources of your choice and displays them on your site. The feed content is created and modified by the publisher, and when the feed is updated, it also automatically updates on your site.
The Aggregator module makes it easy to display dynamic content streams on your site. The configuration and management options give you the tools to organize the feeds and to display them in a variety of manners, including through the use of blocks. In this chapter, I review the Aggregator module and show how to configure and manage feeds. I also outline the tools available for formatting the output on the screen.
Introducing the Aggregator Module
The Aggregator module is a news aggregator combined with a news reader. It gathers syndicated content feeds from one or more sources and displays that content on the screen. The module is used most frequently to create a news section for your site, showing current news from a variety of sources. The Drupal Aggregator supports RSS, RDF, and Atom-based feeds.
