Appendix B. Preparing Your Development Environment
The instructions listed here will also apply if you are setting up a Web server for use inside a company intranet. Each of these install guides includes tips on how to install an AMP stack. Depending on your operating system, you will be installing LAMP (Linux), WAMP (Windows), or MAMP (Mac OS X). The AMP stands for Apache (the Web server), MySQL (the database), and PHP (the scripting language). Drupal also supports IIS (Windows server) and Postgres (database).
The following are required to run Drupal.
• Apache 2.x running on Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux. IIS is also supported when correctly configured.
