Medical imaging can be seen as the processes and methods used to create images of the human or animal body for clinical or medical science purposes. Considering that until 2010 about 5 billion medical imaging studies had been performed we can grasp the importance of the spread of use of medical imaging devices in our modern society.

Nowadays we have quite a few techniques for obtaining images that provide relevant information from the clinical point of view.
