Storage and Drives

If you're creating a bare-bones computer system, you'll need a minimum of a hard drive and a CD-ROM drive. Many people, however, also like to stock their machines with floppy drives, DVD drives, and CD/DVD burners. We'll recommend some configurations using these drives and burners in later chapters.

Floppy Drives

Yes, floppy drives are going the route of the dinosaur, but they're not extinct yet, and therefore, we recommend that you install one (Figure 2.9).
