The Milky Way and star trails are the two night-photography subjects that are available most frequently. You can shoot star trails on any clear night. You can shoot the Milky Way’s galactic core on any clear, moonless night during the Milky Way season for your latitude, as explained in chapter 4. The subjects described in this chapter, by contrast, are available much less frequently. Meteor showers occur at predictable times, but there are only two showers per year that are truly photogenic.
