Essentialism calls on us to teach the essence of any subject rather than unimportant, distracting, and peripheral details. By teaching essentials, we enable learners to master the subject quickly and surely.

At all stages of design, you must ask yourself, “What do learners need to learn?” Analyzing learners' needs—as well as their potential and limitations—requires careful study.
