Chapter 2E-tivities in the five-stage model

For online learning to be successful and happy, participants need to be supported through a structured developmental process. This chapter offers a description of my five-stage model, which provides a framework or scaffold for a structured and paced programme of e-tivities. A structured learning scaffold implies prior design, providing a familiar and sequenced routine leading to increasing control by the learner.

The five-stage model offers essential support and development to participants at each stage as they build up expertise in learning online. Each stage requires e-tivities of a different nature, as I will outline.
