An Overview of Current EVM Practice

This chapter presents an overview of EVM practice in different countries and industries based on an empirical review of the existing literature. It is intended to describe the big picture of the EVM adoption and usage in three groups of users, which are U.S. government agencies, private industry, and countries other than the U.S. These three groups are subjectively defined from a historical perspective on EVM practice—that is, (1) EVM's maturity and popularity in U.S. federal agencies and their contractors of either public or private nature, (2) growing level of acceptance and usage in private industry, and (3) increasing use of EVM in countries outside the U.S. An attempt was made to present the ...
