This book chronicles the application of one aspect of lean that was part of a pioneering course of change a small U.S. manufacturer led by a father and son team.

Pat Lancaster, Chairman of Lantech, recognized the winds of change in the late 80’s and had the vision and courage to commit to lean in 1992 long before books on lean filled the shelves. Pat’s prodigious leadership skills were exemplified in the way he provided continual high-impact advice and insight without “telling” us what to do or putting up roadblocks. He maintained a bubble of safety and permission that allowed all employees to bring their full enthusiasm and creativity to their daily work.
