Kanban: Reducing Inventory and Managing Pull with Suppliers

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT IS A PHILOSOPHY that naturally extends to delivering your product. At Lantech, the various kaizen teams are constantly reviewing how to improve the quality and cost of manufacturing, as well as how to deliver value to the customer. That means we change our product on a regular basis, whether it is replacing Part A with Part B, improving Part A, or combining Part A and Part B into a single component. Part of the improvement process includes determining the cost of the change. One aspect of that calculation is the impact of the change on the inventory on hand, and thus, one continuous improvement focus is reducing inventory on hand.
