LANTECH FOCUSED ON MANUFACTURING the first year of our lean transformation. It wasn’t long before we could make a machine faster than we could enter the order, so we decided that becoming lean in our business processes was the next logical step. The number one project in Lantech’s hoshin kanri model for the year (see sidebar below) was implementing a new machine in our product line, which ultimately became the most successful fully lean-developed, designed, manufactured, and sold machine in company history. Management listed Business Process Kaizen (BPK) as the number two project.
