The next thing the Client knew, he was sitting in his car. He was smacking the steering wheel; how many times, he didn't know. When the palm of his hand started to sting, he stopped. He remembered that the SUV lease was three months old – a financial obligation that he now had no paycheck to support. Nice. Smart. Great timing. His hand wasn't the only thing that stung.

He smacked the wheel once again. Why did I do that, he wondered. Nothing made sense. Nothing was going as planned, including the throbbing at the base of his thumb.

They beat me to it, the Client thought to himself. I wanted to leave but they pushed me out. Bagged, tagged, and gagged. He sat back in the seat, unable to start the car because he didn't know where to go. His thoughts went to his wife. How could he tell her what had just happened? What about his daughters? The lower-school semester would be over soon. That private school tuition, times two, wasn't going to take care of itself. Where would that money come from? His wife had her business, but they shared the household expenses. Two salaries were needed to keep the boat afloat.

Considering his lost paycheck, he had a sinking feeling.
