Most of the productive and fun things you do on your computer are done with applications, sometimes called apps. An app is a software program that performs one or more functions.
Some apps are work related, others provide useful information, and still others are more entertaining in nature. For example, the Windows Weather app lets you check current weather conditions and forecasts; the Microsoft Word app is a word processor that lets you write letters, reports, and other documents.
