In the All Music panel, right-click on an MP3 track.
Click Advanced Tag Editor.
Type text for the title and album in the boxes to complete a profile of the track.
Assign a mood or genre from the drop-down list and click OK.

INTRODUCTION
HINT
Like other MP3 players and pro-
grams, Media Player is smart,
and enables you to track your
MP3 music using tags (or an
index of parameters you set). You
can then use or create
AutoPlaylists that automatically
assemble themselves based on
these parameters.
Track Information
If you acquired the music from
a CD or online music store,
some of the track information
might already be “tagged.” You
can use the tag feature to revise
or add new tag information.

HINT
Changing the Criteria
You can right-click any
AutoPlaylist and modify its cri-
teria, or create a new
AutoPlaylist with similar but
slightly different criteria.

Click the + sign next to AutoPlaylist to see the preset AutoPlaylists.
Right-click AutoPlaylist again and select New.
Type a name such as Rock for your new AutoPlaylist.
Click the + sign to add criteria and select More.

Updating Media Player
When you update or upgrade to
a later version of Media Player, it
will frequently have an addi-
tional selection of preset
AutoPlaylists that will go through
the All Music collection and cata-
log your songs by their criteria.

Click Mood to select it as a filter.

Click the drop-down arrow by Mood in the AutoPlaylist dialog box and select the

No AutoPlaylists
If you haven’t upgraded to at
least Media Player 9, you won’t
have AutoPlaylists available.
They’re not in the standard
Media Player that comes with
Windows XP. See the tip on
upgrading Media Player earlier
in this section.
Besides using the criteria in the
preset Media Player AutoPlaylists,
you can create your own
AutoPlaylists based on your most
important criteria and allow them
to accummulate references to
songs in your All Music collection.

TIP
Adding and Monitoring Folders
Click the Add (+) button on the Media Player
toolbar and review and try some of the other ways
to compile and assemble references to files, fold-
ers, and playlists. By monitoring a folder you can
see if you’ve referenced all of the latest files that
you’ve added to it using other programs.

Your new AutoPlaylist is among the others in Media Player.
The songs that meet its filter criteria are automatically in the playlist.

Media Player also has plug-ins and drivers to
work with many different devices such as
PDAs, phones, and MP3 players. To transfer
your playlists to these devices, get the most
current information on Media Player plug-ins
