iTunes is both an input and an output application. That means that besides ripping CDs and importing files, you can burn your own CDs, either to play on a home or car stereo, or as backups for your computer-based music collection.
iTunes can burn standard audio CDs, MP3 CDs, data CDs, and data DVDs. You need a CD or DVD burner installed in or attached to your Mac or PC. To complete the tasks in this chapter, you also want to get a supply of blank CDs or DVDs that are compatible with your disc burner.
