Computer security is a hot topic. Spam, identify theft, data theft, viruses, and worms are part of today’s computer life on the Internet. Security on the Mac can be divided into two main areas: the software on the computer (Mac OS or Windows), and your software settings and personal data. This chapter provides some tasks that help you improve security with both areas.
You can download software security updates for Mac OS and Windows from Apple and Microsoft websites. They’re also available when you choose the Apple > Software Update menu. Install the security updates to apply them to your computer.
