Chapter 19: Future opportunities

We’re at the beginning of a time of great change in the online world — and the rate is accelerating rapidly. The internet itself developed into what we know today in the 1980s and 1990s. Until the mid 1990s, mobile phones were the preserve of the rich, and smart phones were unthought of; the world wide web itself only came into being in 1993. Because all of these technologies are relatively new, we’re all still exploring the opportunities these methods and tools offer for business. It also means that few people are really experts in these fields.
