Development of permanent magnet generators to integrate wind turbines into electricity transmission and distribution networks
Abstract
In order to install offshore wind turbines, the solution of a permanent magnet synchronous generator can lead to a high reliability and high performance system compared to other solutions on the market. To increase the attractiveness of this topology by reducing its cost and its weight, some design improvements can be made to the machine. A comparison of the power chains for wind turbine applications is presented.
