Giving Voice to Values for the Public Sector
Abstract
This chapter affirms the relevance and significant benefits of using the GVV approach in education and professional development relating to the public sector. However, it is argued that, while there are many similarities in the functioning of the private and public sectors, there are fundamental and unique aspects of the public sector that need to be acknowledged in the curriculum development pertaining to this sector. These relate mainly to the “Political” context (i.e., the politics of the system of government), and its associated accountability framework, which is often complex.
