A Comparison of Dominant Concepts

 

This section of the study examines different ways of producing academic knowledge through a comparison of the dominant concepts of education and modern development in subaltern societies identified from the Comparative Education Review and The Development Dictionary (Sachs 1992a). By comparing the manner and methods for producing academic knowledge in the texts, it becomes apparent that knowledge and the production of knowledge about reality can be approached in different ways and with different results in terms of how reality is perceived and represented.
