Server programming is a rather large topic. This chapter will mainly focus on some of the concurrency-related aspects of server programming and, in an abstract sense, request handling in general. At the end of the day, almost all programs are written to handle particular requests. For a server application, defining and propagating a request context is very important, so we start the chapter by talking about the context package. Next, we will look at some simple servers to explore how requests can be handled concurrently, and discuss some methods to deal with a few basic problems of server development.
