ABSTRACT Gauss’s law constitutes one of the fundamental laws of electromagnetism. Gauss’s law provides an easy means of finding electric field intensity or electric flux density for symmetrical charge distributions such as a point charge, an infinite line charge, an infinite cylindrical surface charge and so forth. The procedure for applying Gauss’s law to calculate the electric field involves the introduction of Gaussian surfaces, which are closed surfaces on which electric field is either constant or zero.
