Application of Pattern Recognition to Fault Diagnosis

8.1 Introduction

The problem of fault diagnosis can be viewed as a classification problem if a proper selection of features and classifier is chosen. To begin with, we introduce the pattern recognition system structure and then the classifier design problem will be addressed for our fault diagnosis system. The presented technique will be used for both alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) machines fault detection.
