Emergency and Standby Systems and Fire Pumps
OVERVIEW
This chapter covers the installation and wiring requirements for emergency systems, legally required standby systems, optional standby systems, and fire pumps. Critical operations power systems (COPS) are similar in many ways, and in a sense are a type of legally required standby system since the necessity for a COPS installation may be determined or approved by governmental authorities, but they are covered in a separate article. This manual does not address them specifically (see National Electrical Code® [NEC®] Article 708 for more information).
