Per-unit System
OBJECTIVES
In this chapter you will learn about:
- Per-unit calculations use simpler numbers and are less subject to errors
- Per-unit fractions are unit-less, as they are always the ratios of the same inputs
- Zpn is universally proportional to the square of the base voltage and directly proportional to the base kVA
- A per-line voltage is the same as a per-unit phase voltage. The use of in three phase is almost eliminated
- Per-unit values are usually less than unity
- Three-phase activities are treated identically as d.c. or single-phase systems
