Abstract

The chapter begins with a discussion about how modern electronics is more about systems than circuits. Thanks to modern integrated circuits, we can build equipment and whole systems with ICs and not get involved with the detailed circuitry. A system is defined and the basic input–process–output model is explained. Several basic electronic products such as the PC and music player are discussed at the block diagram level as examples of modern systems.
