Evaluation of Information Service

Abstract

Evaluation is “the systematic investigation of the merit, worth, or significance of an object or effort.” Evaluation studies investigate the degree to which the stated goals or expectations have been achieved or the degree to which these can be achieved. This is true for evaluation of any information service (IS) too. Evaluation may be conducted at two different stages. Formative evaluation is conducted during the development/implementation of a program or service, and summative evaluation is conducted after the program is completed or service is fully implemented.
