EAP
Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) is an authentication protocol designed to support several different authentication mechanisms. It runs directly over the data link layer and does not require the use of Internet Protocol (IP).

It is helpful to write out a table showing the various authentication methods used in 802.11 networks (e.g., open authentication, shared-key authentication, and 802.1x authentication) with the various properties each of these authentication methods require.
