Process Roles

Now let's take a closer look at that process owner I keep talking about, as well as the other roles key to process success.

Process Owner

The process owner is absolutely essential to process success. As crucial as this role is, I rarely encounter it when I visit organizations around the word. Whenever somebody refers to an alleged process I always ask, “Who is the process owner?” The following are the answers I most frequently hear:

  • “The what?”
  • “Nobody really owns it, per se.”
  • “Hmmm, I guess I am.”
  • “Ummmmmmmm…”
