Quickstart
Abstract
This quickstart chapter allows the reader to be quickly up and running with the Microchip PIC32MX795F512H development board called the “NU32.” This chapter introduces the reader to the book’s website, where the book’s free C sample code can be downloaded. After downloading the quickstart sample code, and the XC32 compiler from Microchip, the reader compiles and runs a PIC32 program in C that communicates with the USB port of the reader’s computer. This C program is easy to understand, and the reader can modify it to write any C program for the PIC32 that uses the computer’s keyboard for input and the computer’s screen for output. The NU32 is programmed directly by a USB cable; no programmer device is needed.
