A brief history of behaviour in US energy programs: Landscape, integration, and future opportunities
Jane S. Peters Opinion Dynamics Corporation, Portland, OR, United States
Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of the US energy program landscape outlining the role of government, states, utilities, and private sector market actors in seeking to influence behaviour change by end users. The primary means used for reaching end users are energy programs and this chapter discusses how behaviour has been integrated into the three most common types of energy programs offered end users: energy efficiency, demand management and pricing, and market transformation programs.
