3.6. Transport sector
Transportation is a significant part of a national economy and its purposes as a foundation, service provider, and support. In addition, energy use in the transport sector contains the energy consumed in moving goods and people by air, rail, water, road, and pipeline. The Malaysian transportation sector consumed almost 43.3% of total energy usage of the country in 2013 (MESH, 2015).
The transportation sector comprises two major modes:
- (i) passenger
- (ii) freight
