Lighting Management

Abstract

Lighting is a significant energy use in buildings. During the last two decades there have been tremendous strides in improving the efficiency of lamps, luminaires, and lighting controls. With the transition from incandescent to metal halide to more efficient fluorescent and now to LED lamps, lamp efficacy (lumens/watt) has steadily increased. At the same time, a new generation of compact, inexpensive, and programmable lighting controls ensure that light is available only when needed.
