Application of ANSYS to contact between machine elements
Abstract
This chapter contains solved examples of problems dealing with contact between machine elements. There are five solved problems representing typical contacts between machine elements. In all of them, a facility provided by ANSYS called Contact Wizard is used. The first example concerns a pin with a slightly larger diameter than the matching hole that it is being pushed into. Resulting stresses and deformations are calculated. The second example deals with the contact between cylinder and two blocks. The third example is about the contact between a wheel and rail.
