Chapter Objectives
Gears, pulleys, and chains are part of a broader category called power transmission. Power comes from a source such as an engine, motor, or windmill. The power is then transferred to a mechanism that performs some function. For example, an automobile engine transmits power from the engine to the wheels via a gear box.
