OBJECTIVES

After reading this chapter, you will be able to

  • Draw the development of surfaces—the shapes of solids as they would appear when the surfaces of solids are laid out on a plane surface—for simple solids such as prisms, pyramids, cylinders, and cones

  • Draw the development of the lateral surface of cut solids by finding the points common between the surface lines of the solid and the plane that cuts the solid, and by locating these points on the surface lines of the development at true distances from the respective end points
