The Rise of the Virtual Workplace
Just as incivility has its roots in an earlier time, so too does the virtual work environment. Remote work began approximately two centuries ago at the height of the Industrial Revolution. Obviously, our definition of virtual work differs from that time to some degree, but many people currently sell their products from the comfort of their homes just as craftsmen did hundreds of years ago. However, they have technology to aid them in their marketing and sales endeavors so that their products can be made available on a global scale rather than locally only.
