Appendix C—Knowledge Discovery Techniques

Knowledge can be transmitted between or among people, but this does not mean that it can only be copied. People learn rather than are taught, and knowledge transferred is recreated by the recipient. So it can change as it replicates and will not always take the same form. The key concept in this regard is to understand the extent to which useful knowledge can actually be codified. One of the simpler concepts to grasp is the difference between “explicit” and “tacit” knowledge.
