This chapter focuses on databases and their relationship to enterprise applications. This chapter begins by discussing standard terminology associated with databases then quickly moves on to a discussion of SQL. Some of the more common operations including SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE statements for working with data and CREATE, ALTER, and DROP statements for working with database schemas are discussed.
