Part III
Manipulating
Messages
Messaging is one of the pillars of any enterprise integration solution. All the major EI products
on the market today include some form of messaging engine. This part of the book addresses
the major aspects of messaging with EI solutions.
Chapter 8 describes methods for transforming messages, which is the process of mod-
ifying not only the content of a message, but also its structure. This transformation enables
you to provide messages to systems in the appropriate format.
In Chapter 9, we deal with the process of delivering the messages. We will review the
basics of messaging and then move on to more advanced topics, such as using Microsoft
.NET Remoting to pass messages.
Finally, in Chapter 10, we will demonstrate a variety of ways to construct and evaluate
business rules based on the content of the messages we deliver.
