Netopia's Timbuktu Pro was the dominant remote administration application for a long time, and is still widely used in many Mac and mixed platform environments. Although the utilization of this application has dropped drastically since the rise of VNC, Microsoft's RDC and Apple's Remote Desktop, Timbuktu Pro still has a strong following, and Netopia is still developing for it. The choice of whether to use Timbuktu Pro over ARD is often an emotional one rather than one based on feature set and price comparisons.
