Chapter 5. IBM JMS Providers

As we have now seen, JMS defines an API for which software vendors implement support in a JMS provider. JMS client applications subsequently interact with the JMS provider via the JMS API. We have examined in detail the JMS API and its use and are now ready to examine a vendor-specific implementation of the JMS provider, specifically that provided by IBM. We begin by introducing the IBM WebSphere Software Platform, which encapsulates the software components with which we are concerned.
