Preface

This book evolved as part of a natural process. Some of our previous works were aimed at the basics of project management (AMA Handbook of Project Management¹) and the people side of projects (Human Factors in Project Management²). A broader view of the world of projects was presented in Winning in Business with Enterprise Project Management³ and was later complemented by Creating the Project Office⁴ and Right Projects Done Right.⁵ Through our research and writings, the transformation of project management from a single-project focus to a full-scale organizational view became initially evident beginning in the 1990s and increasingly so in the early twenty-first century.
