The System Dependability Problem
Abstract
This chapter proposes a function and control capability profile cluster model to help eliciting the dependability requirements. It proposes modeling a dependable system as a feedforward–feedback control system. The model adopts function capability profiles to represent functional requirements, and control capability profiles are designed to describe dependability requirements. This model provides an integrated view at a highly abstract level while it also separates the functaional concerns and dependable concerns. To elicit dependability requirements systematically, a hazard and operability study–based iterative process is also designed.
