SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT: GENERATION, COLLECTION AND TRANSPORTATION
9.1 INTRODUCTION
The Solid Waste Management (SWM) is one of the important obligatory (bind legally) functions of the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in India. It is also one of the primary responsibilities of the municipal authorities over the years. The quantity of solid waste generated has been increasing due to increase in urbanization, population and associated activities.
