Introduction Into the Environment
Abstract
When the use of organic chemical results in discharge into, and contamination of the environment, it becomes necessary to set standards for acceptable concentrations in water, air, soil, and biota. Monitoring of these concentrations in the environment and resultant biological effects, must be undertaken to ensure that the standards as set in any regulation are realistic and provide protection of the environment from all adverse effects. Furthermore, considerable attention continues to be focused on the regulation of the use of all organic chemicals and a primary aspect involves the prediction of the behavior and effects of a chemical, from its properties. With this concept the characteristics ...
