Acknowledgments

It would have been exceptionally difficult to write this book if it weren’t for the culmination of all the portrait sessions I’ve photographed in the last near decade. For that privilege, I thank each and every one of my clients. I’m amazed at how much I’ve learned while staying focused on doing the work.

The experience of growing up as the only daughter, the middle child, in a family of five taught me much about how family shapes us. It may have taken me a while to understand it, but the connection of the pieces of my childhood to my resulting personality quirks certainly makes a great deal more sense to me now.
